Caveman Watches, Africa’s pioneering luxury watch brand, has hosted a delegation from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) at “The New Cave,” its newly inaugurated production hub.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by GEPA to highlight and amplify Ghana’s capacity to produce globally competitive, non-traditional exports (NTE) products.

The delegation which was spearheaded by GEPA’s deputy Chief Executive Officers, Raymond Rashid Kramer and Ambrose Edwin Nsarkoh, toured through the intricate watchmaking process from concept design to casing, polishing, and finishing underscoring the brand’s strict adherence to international production standards.

The team was visibly impressed by the level of automation, the scale of operations, and the number of skilled hands involved behind the scenes.

“We are truly amazed at what is happening here at Caveman Watches. The level of machinery and precision, as well as the dedication of the workforce, is a testament to what Ghanaian ingenuity can achieve. It’s inspiring to see such excellence being built locally,” Mr. Kramer remarked.

Caveman Watches, founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Anthony Dzamefe, has grown into a symbol of African luxury and innovation. Its flagship models, including the ‘Blue Volta’ and ‘Antique Leather,’ fuse culture with international design standards and have received recognition both locally and abroad.

“Our goal is not just to create watches, but to tell African stories through timepieces.  We are grateful for this visit; this tour reaffirms our belief that we are on the right path, and we are excited about the future of Ghanaian craftsmanship. With the right platforms and visibility, brands like ours can make a strong impression on the world stage,” said Caveman Watches CEO.

The visit represented a valuable opportunity for dialogue between brands and key export facilitators. GEPA’s mandate includes providing guidance and policy-driven advice to enhance the visibility and readiness of local products for global markets, particularly within the creative and manufacturing sectors.

GEPA’s NTE initiative focuses on diversifying Ghana’s export base beyond traditional commodities like gold, cocoa, and timber. This initiative aims to promote a wider range of agricultural, processed, and handicraft products, including export trade in services.

GEPA supports exporters through various means, including marketing, promotion, and acting as an interface between exporters and other public organizations.

The 2023 Annual NTEs Statistics Report revealed an 11.75 percent growth rate in NTE earnings, totalling US$ 3,945,846,717.

This accounts for 24 percent of total merchandise exports, marking a significant progress towards the country’s decade-long goal of US$ 25.3 billion by 2029.

The likes of Caveman Watches, with a unique product that is gaining global traction from luxurious personalities, including Grammy-winning singer Angélique Kidjo, late former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, celebrated Nigerian record producer Don Jazzy, actor Boris Kodjoe, and football star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, among other NFL players, remains critical players in this drive.
