GCB Bank MD calls on Chief Imam

The Managing Director (MD) of GCB Bank PLC, Farihan Alhassan has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at his residence in Accra.

The visit was to formally introduce the newly appointed MD to the revered spiritual leader, foster goodwill and highlight the Bank’s unwavering commitment to the Chief Imam and Muslim community.



The Bank has over the years maintained a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the office of National Chief Imam built on trust, shared values and a commitment to community development. Through this, it has at various times donated items to the Chief Imam and the Muslim community during special festivals and occasions.

During the interaction, Mr. Alhassan, in the presence of a delegation of senior management and staff from GCB Bank expressed his gratitude to the Chief Imam for the warm reception and acknowledged the key role the religious leader plays in fostering unity and development within and outside of the Islamic community. He also emphasised the Bank’s  commitment to supporting initiatives that align with community growth, financial empowerment and development.

“We recognise the immense influence and contribution of religious and spiritual figures like the Chief Imam who for decades has stood as an icon for peace and national development. As an organisation with a mission to catalyse socio-economic growth and development, we deem it prudent to engage and collaborate with stakeholders such as the Chief Imam to advance social well-being, drive economic development and also promote financial inclusion,” he elaborated.

In response, the Chief Imam congratulated Farihan Alhassan on his assumption of office as the MD of GCB Bank and commended him for paying a courtesy call on him.

Additionally, he urged the MD to lead the Bank with integrity, fairness and strong values whiles also championing policies that benefit both individuals and businesses.

He prayed for Allah’s blessings and guidance for the MD’s tenure and for the Bank’s continued success and partnership.

Donation of food items

The Bank also donated some food items to the Chief Iman in the light of the upcoming period of Ramadan. They included- twenty bags of rice, five bags of sugar, ten cartons of milo, five cartons of oil, and five cartons of Lipton.

The delegation from the Bank included Abraham Fergurson, Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey, Deputy Managing Director of Operations, Sina Kamagate, Executive Head of Retail Banking, and Kwabena Yeboah, Head of HR among other staff members.
