Access Bank’s Employee Volunteer Programme enhances neonatal care at Ussher Hospital

In a touching act of community support, Access Bank, under its Employee Volunteering Programme (EVP), has equipped the neonatal development center of Ussher Hospital in Accra with critical medical supplies.

These include AED Machines, Digital BP Machines, Suction Machines, Stabilizers, Infusion Pumps, and CPAP Machines. Additionally, the group provided play items, recognizing the importance of holistic care for newborns.

EVP is a core component of Access Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility, which allows staff to contribute time and resources to support a cause in their communities of operation. Categorized into twelve groups across the country, Group 7 contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, focusing on maternal and neonatal health.



Neonatal care is one of the most sensitive and critical areas of healthcare, requiring precise tools and equipment to ensure survival and optimal development for newborns. By donating these medical essentials, the EVP Group 7 has strengthened the hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality care to its youngest patients.

The inclusion of play items highlights the bank’s understanding of the emotional and psychological well-being of both babies and their families. Play therapy is essential in reducing stress and promoting recovery in pediatric care settings.

This donation also underscores Access Bank’s approach to CSR, which integrates sustainability into every intervention. By equipping Ussher Hospital with durable medical tools, the initiative creates a long-term impact, benefiting countless families over time.

Speaking about the initiative, patron of the group and Country Treasurer of Access Bank (Ghana) PLC, Franklin Ayensu-Nyarko said, “I am extremely proud of what the team has achieved with this year’s project. Indeed, the strength of our country lies in the promise of its youngest citizens – our children. Supporting the neonatal care means safeguarding the future of our nation. These machines and tools will ensure that the tiniest and most vulnerable lives have the best possible chance to thrive.”

On her part, Director for the group, Nana Adwoa Ofori-Amanfo reaffirmed the bank’s continuous dedication to impacting lives now and in the future. The group’s efforts exemplify the spirit of Access Bank’s Employee Volunteer Program, showing how individual and collective action can tackle pressing challenges.

The Medical Superintendent at Ussher Hospital, Dr. Jude Kwaku Adomako expressed their heartfelt thanks, saying, “your support plays a vital role in enabling us to provide quality health care and services to the children and their families. Your thoughtful contribution will make a significant difference in improving the well-being of our patients. Thank you, Access Bank for your generosity.”
