Maame Efua Houadjeto, the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, who takes over from former CEO Akwasi Agyeman, who tendered in his resignation last week.

A journalist, event planner and entrepreneur turned politician, Maame Efua is a former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 elections.



An expert in marketing communications, her known footprints in tourism began with Kobby Tours & Protocol Services in the early 2000s which was a major source of US tourists to Ghana.

This was prior to her veering into events, co-founding Image Consortium, an event management firm, which has been the power behind such high profile events as the International Building & Construction Show for over 20 years.

It is believed her vast organizational skills and entrepreneurial abilities with a marketing penchant, coupled with her passion and leadership skills puts her in good stead to make her new position a glowing success. We wish her all the best.
