The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Ghana has held the 3rd edition of its Nimdie Series, a transformative business clinic designed to equip Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with essential knowledge and tools to thrive in today’s digital economy.

This edition spotlighted digital marketing as a key driver of business growth, and was themed “Digital Marketing: A Transformative Strategy for MSMEs.”

It aimed to demystify digital marketing, providing MSMEs with a practical understanding of its principles and advantages.

Additionally, the 3rd Nimdie Series sought to provide actionable strategies for leveraging digital tools to enhance brand visibility, engage customers, and improve advertising effectiveness.

Also, the session showcased real-life success stories of businesses that have harnessed digital marketing to achieve remarkable growth. Through these insights, participants gained inspiration and confidence to implement similar strategies tailored to their needs.

Dr. Edward Ampratwum, UNDP Governance and Growth Lead, emphasized the importance of boosting MSMEs’ capacity in his post-event media engagement, stating that it would increase their digital abilities and help them to know the relevant tools to employ to improve their digital entrepreneurship.

Mr. Ampratwum added that the initiative is part of UNDP Ghana’s commitment to fostering resilience and success among MSMEs by enhancing their knowledge in critical areas such as branding, business planning, marketing, financial management, and digital transformation.

“The Nimdie Series and other UNDP MSME interventions not only empower MSMEs to achieve scalable growth and strengthen their resilience, but also serves as a platform where experts and business leaders share their experiences and strategies for navigating challenges in their businesses,” he elaborated.

According to him, the UNDP has made significant investment in scaling up MSMEs, through innovative challenges, mentorship, and capacity building in corporate governance among others.

‘We acknowledge the fact that MSMEs are the country’s engine of growth, so we invest extensively in them. In addition to developing their skills, we are collaborating with the Ghana Enterprise Agency to create what we call the “Digital Gateway Platform”, which will provide a market space for them to trade and engage.

“We have also done some market expansion and capacity building for these MSMEs by sending some of them to Namibia and Kigali to do some business-to-business engagements recently, he said.

Furthermore, he emphasised the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that MSMEs take the AFCFTA seriously and actively participate in it.

In this regard, he stated that it is working on ensuring that the obstacles that arise when conducting business across African borders are addressed.

“Together with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), we are currently performing some assessments across the borders, with the objective that female-led businesses will have access across the borders,” he also said.
