Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the “generational leader” the country needs.
Dame made the comments during a courtesy visit by Prof. Etse Sikanku, an Associate Professor at the University of Media Arts and Communication, at the Attorney General’s office in the Law House, Accra, on Thursday.
Prof. Sikanku, also an author, presented two of his books—“Bawumia and the Modern Vice Presidency” and “The Afrocentric Obama and Lessons on Political Campaigning”—to Dame during the visit. Both books focus on political leadership, with particular focus on Dr. Bawumia’s role in Ghanaian politics and the influence of Barack Obama on the global stage.
Dame expressed his admiration for the Vice President’s leadership, describing him as the type of leader Ghana needs at this point in its history.
“Dr. Bawumia is the kind of generational leader that the country desires at this time,” Dame said. “His vision, foresight, and ability to understand the challenges of the nation make him the leader we need right now. He has the qualities to guide this country forward.”
Dame’s comments come ahead of Ghana’s elections, with many eyes on Dr. Bawumia as a key figure in the country’s political future. Dame also extended his support, saying he hoped the Vice President would continue to receive the backing of the people.
“We can only hope for the best for him,” Dame added. “We can only give him our full support. The people of Ghana will undoubtedly entrust the future of this country into his hands, and we hope that Lady Luck will smile at him this Saturday.”
“We can only hope for the best for him,” Dame said in reference to Dr. Bawumia. “Public service is about leadership that serves the needs of the people, and I believe he has the vision to lead us in the right direction.”
According to Prof Sikanku, the inspiration for writing the book on the Vice President was underscored by the Vice President’s noteworthy leadership marked by his future-minded, energetic, long-term, policy driven leadership style that has made the Vice Presidency a position of impact.
He said Dr Bawumia’s zealousness, advocacy and innovative thinking as Vice President has made the Vice Presidency a more prominent position. Prof. Sikanku added that Dr Bawumia had made a lasting impact in the position and laid a template that will inspire future holders of that position
“Dr Bawumia has set a high bench mark as Vice President. He has used the Vice Presidency as a tool for social advocacy especially on the issue of digitalization. He’s futuristic Vice President concerned with moving Ghana towards the future progressiveness, modernity and innovation. This is something that needs to be documented”
