Global Media Alliance Group crowned its International Men’s Week 2024 with an exciting inter-departmental cooking competition sponsored by Tasty Tom, where Happy FM’s all-male team emerged victorious with their impressive culinary skills.
The three-member team from Happy 98.9FM surprised judges, and colleagues alike, with their healthy and creative menu, featuring delectable desserts – including fruit salad and hot sobolo paired with fufu and groundnut soup. Their innovative approach and execution earned them the coveted first place in the competition.
Global Media Alliance’s team secured second place with their traditional Ghanaian cuisine, presenting a mouthwatering combination of rice balls and groundnut soup. The Sales Team claimed third position with delicious banku and fante fante (fisherman stew), followed by YFM in fourth with an urban rendition of yam and egg stew.
The Operations Department came in fifth with fufu and light soup, and Perception Management International (PMI) took the sixth position with a Togo-inspired gari dish called pinor.
Benjamin Coffie, Assistant Head of HR at Global Media Alliance, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success. “This competition has achieved multiple objectives – celebrating our male colleagues, fostering team spirit and showcasing the hidden culinary talents within our organisation. It’s heartening to see such enthusiastic participation across all departments.”
Aaron Aggrey, Team Lead – Events and Activations at Tasty Tom, praised the participants’ creativity. “We’re impressed by how the teams utilised our products, particularly our new variants – including the jollof mix, pepper and onion tomato seasoning mix, and enriched tomato paste. The level of skill displayed today demonstrates that cooking truly knows no gender.”
Winners received generous hampers from Tasty Tom, filled with various Tasty Tom product lines. The event, organised by the Human Resources Department, successfully achieved its goals of promoting team bonding, encouraging good work ethics and providing a fun, stress-relieving experience for staff members.
The competition served as a fitting celebration of International Men’s Week while breaking stereotypes and showcasing that culinary excellence is not limited by gender.
