A non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of young women in Ghana, the Girls Education Initiative of Ghana (GEIG) is set to host an exhibition to showcase innovation and talent of female students in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The upcoming exhibition, scheduled for 3:00pm on December 13, 2024, at the Prampram Technical Institute, is a testament to GEIG’s primary goal to empowering young women by providing higher education and professional opportunities, thereby contributing to the country’s development and poverty reduction.
The event which is organized under the Community Center Initiative (CCI) programme of GEIG will showcase innovative products and services developed by female students from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institute. They will also demonstrate exceptional research skills, grit, and commercial positioning, signaling their readiness to disrupt industries.
Under the theme ‘A Promising Future of the Ghanaian Youth: Jobs, Entrepreneurship and Improved Standard of Living’ the exhibition is also aimed at driving a transformation in Ghana’s youth, providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to succeed in the world of work and entrepreneurship. This initiative addresses unemployment rates while providing industry-ready skills that make these talents valuable assets to companies.
The founder of the Girls Education Initiative of Ghana (GEIG), Elizabeth Akua Nyarko Patterson mentioned that “This exhibition provides a platform for the students to produce products or services from their department which is out of this world, which is commercial and with a focus on value-ad. The students are expected to exhibit exceptional research skills, grit, collaboration, outsourcing, cross-cultural and commercial positioning as part of their expression of being ready to disrupt the industries they are currently studying in. They will work along with industry professionals,” she added.
According to her, the programme will also feature a special focus on Adaptive Clothing, catering to the needs of fashion students. GEIG is confident that this conditioning of students whiles in Senior High School (SHS), will equip them for the world of work and entrepreneurship to enable them tap into all opportunities out there.
