The management of Business and Financial Times (B&FT) has paid a courtesy call on the management of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana in a gesture of appreciation and alliance.
The visit aims to strengthen the existing partnership between Africa’s leading provider of business information and Africa’s global bank to explore potential collaborations for the upcoming year.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the B&FT, Dr. Godwin Acquaye, expressed satisfaction with UBA’s support throughout the year while emphasising the importance of their partnership.
“We will express our heartfelt gratitude to the brand for the support that you have given us throughout the year. We really do not take for granted the partnership we have with you,” Dr. Acquaye said.
“As the year draws to a close, we usually visit all our valued partners to express our appreciation and review the business activities of the past year. This allows us to identify opportunities for mutual benefit and explore ways to strengthen our relationship as we plan for the year ahead,” he added.
The meeting focused on exploring synergies, collaborative opportunities and strategies for delivering enhanced value to customers and the broader community.
Dr. Acquaye presented an overview of B&FT’s upcoming events, including The Money Summit, Women in Business, and the Ghana Economic Forum. He highlighted the Women in Business program, which aims to empower young female entrepreneurs with training and financial support.
He said these programmes contribute to shaping the business landscape’s future and economic development of the country.
“Included on the list is The Money Summit, which brings together all institutions involved in finance and related sectors. You may also be familiar with Women in Business, an initiative focused on supporting young women entrepreneurs,” he mentioned.
He revealed that the B&FT plans to host the Women in Business initiative in Kumasi next year. He added that the organisation is seeking a banking partner to sponsor at least 50 young women, with plans to inject some working capital into their businesses.
The initiative will also include training programmes, with participants expected to open accounts with the sponsoring bank to foster financial inclusion and business growth.
Dr. Acquaye noted that among his outfit’s strategic initiatives for next year is the Youth Economic Forum to support businesses of young people through specialised financial products.
The Managing Director of the United Bank Africa (UBA)-Ghana, Uzoechina Molokwu, welcomed the proposals, particularly the Women in Business initiative.
“This is interesting and I think I like the Woman in Business part,” he noted.
