Bernard Kafui Sokpe, CEO of Jambo Spaces, delivered powerful insights on creative entrepreneurship and professional development during an engaging interview with Rev. Erskine on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show’s Y Leaderboard Series.
During the interview, Sokpe addressed critical issues facing African creatives, particularly emphasising the importance of contract scrutiny and monetary value recognition in the creative industry. “There are so many creatives who are being taken advantage of. They just want to create and pay little attention to contracts,” Sokpe cautioned.
The tech entrepreneur and brand marketing expert revealed plans for the African Digital Creator Academy, Jambo Spaces’ flagship programme designed to bridge the knowledge gap in creative monetisation. “Most creators have the numbers and audience but have no idea on how to make the money,” Sokpe observed, introducing Jambo Spaces as a creative hub and incubator focused on turning “creativity into currency.”
Commenting on the impactful session, Eddy Blay Jr., Programmes Manager at YFM, stated: “Bernard Sokpe’s interview exemplifies exactly what the Y Leaderboard Series stands for – providing our youth audience with practical insights from industry leaders who are actively shaping the future. His message about value creation and creative empowerment aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire and educate the next generation of Ghanaian leaders”.
Sokpe also shared valuable career advice for young professionals, emphasising the importance of value creation in job seeking. “People are hiring for a reason, to change something – not just to fill a role.
Always go into job interviews with what you want to do differently to elevate the company or brand,” he advised, cautioning against pursuing opportunities solely for financial gain without a clear plan for contribution.
The interview was conducted as part of the Y Leaderboard Series, a prominent segment of YFM’s Myd Morning Radio Show (MMRS). This weekly feature has become a cornerstone of youth empowerment programming in Ghana, offering listeners direct access to insights from industry leaders and change-makers.
