2024\25 Premier League Week 7: Gold Stars’ unbeaten run continues

Bibiani Gold Stars Football Club’s unbeaten run in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) continued in week seven after a comfortable 2-0 win over Aduana FC at home, giving their home fans uplifting expressions over the weekend.

Two goals from Ronald Frimpong and Samuel Atta Kumi delivered victory for the miners at Duns Park in Bibiani as they maintained a one-point lead at the top of the table.

It took just six minutes for Ronald Frimpong to put his side in the lead before Samuel Atta Kumi added the second in the 73rd minute. Gold Stars FC, remain unbeaten this season in the GPL and are top of the Premier League table with 15 points from the seven matches followed close by Kumasi Asante Kotoko with a match to spare.



Kotoko also grabbed a 1-0 home win over FC Samartex 1996 in their home game.  Albert Amoah continued his fine form for Asante Kotoko as he notched the match-winner at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Kotoko are second on the table now with 14 points, one behind leaders Gold Stars FC, with one outstanding game to spare.

Hearts of Oak failed to carry on the win promised to their fans after their recent home win. They drew 0-0 with Dreams FC who themselves are facing difficulties this season.

The Believers are still without a win after seven matches and are in a tight situation at the moment after the two teams sold out an entertaining draw at the Tuba Astro Turf. Dreams are deeply involved in the early relegation battle as they lie 17th while Hearts of Oak find themselves in mid-table.

In Bibiani, Legon Cities FC’s stuttering start to the Premier League season took another turn for the worse as Berekum Chelsea piled more misery on the team with a 3-1 victory at Golden City Park.

Emmanuel Sarpong opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 15th minute before Suraj Yusif Kamal pulled parity two minutes later. However further goals from Stephen Amankona and Hubert Gyau completed the riot against a struggling Legon Cities side. Cities are still without a win after seven matches and lie firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

Karela United recorded a solitary 1-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Sunday. Abdul Latif scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute to hand the Pride and Passion their first win in Tamale and ended the visitor’s four-match unbeaten streak. Both United and Lions are tied on 8 points placing 11th and 12th position on the league table respectively.

Bechem United scored on the stroke of full time to deny Vision FC in their 1-1 stalemate on Sunday. Vision FC appeared to be cruising to their second win at home after Edmond Asante scored in the 85th minute. But Kofi Tompuo pulled parity with the equaliser in the 89th minute at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Adjei Park.

Elsewhere, Nsoatreman FC continued their decent home run with a comfortable 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars. Yaw Preko’s men went ahead after just one minute kind courtesy of Collins Kofi Kudjoe before Mohammed Abdul Rahman added the second in the 25th minute.

Nsoatreman FC lies in eighth position while the newly promoted Basake lies in 13th after seven matches in the Premier League.

Third-placed Medeama ended Nations FC’s unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1-0 win at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday. Osah Bernandinho Tetteh’s 14th-minute strike separated the two teams in the exciting afternoon game in the Western Region.

It will be a relief for Medeama coach Nebojsa Kapor after seeing his side drop four points at home so far this season. Kasim Mingle’s side’s impressive start to the season is halted at the TnA Stadium and will look to rebound next weekend.
