Members of Gramophone Ghana gathered at the Accra International Conference Centre for ‘The Big Fellowship’, a vibrant celebration marking the choir’s tenth anniversary under the theme ‘An Endless Hallelujah’.

This milestone event drew a diverse audience eager to share in the joy of the occasion, uniting friends, family and supporters of the choir.

The journey of Gramophone Ghana began on 25 March 2014, although initial planning had commenced as early as February 2013. One member reflected on how this musical organisation started from a simple dream of one individual who inspired six close friends to pursue the vision together.

“It’s been ten years of God’s faithfulness, goodness, mercy and favour,” the founder expressed, as the significance of their accomplishments was felt throughout the gathering.

Members shared personal stories about their experiences with the choir during the event. One chorister shared how they overcame stage fright through their participation, while another spoke of the unwavering support they received during challenging times.

These narratives underscored the transformative power of music and community, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the members. A documentary highlighting the choir’s evolution was aired the next morning, evoking heartfelt memories and further personal stories from members.

The celebration featured a rich programme of choral and contemporary songs, inviting the audience to sing along and sway to the rhythm. This interactive experience fostered a sense of unity and togetherness. The energy in the room was palpable as attendees clapped and cheered, encouraging the performers on stage.

Audience reflections

Audience Member 1: “The theme ‘An Endless Hallelujah’ was so fitting. I arrived a bit late but  thoroughly enjoyed the engaging praise and worship session, along with the impressive performances by the guest artists. The personal testimonies added a beautiful touch to the experience”.

Audience Member 2: “It was truly a time of praise and worship. I noticed some initial sound issues during Minister Tim’s performance, but he handled it well. Esther did a great job. Her worship was unbelievable, and it got some of us to pay more attention to worshipping instead of just enjoying or singing along.

One of my highlights was Minister Aduamoah’s ministration. It was such an experience. I was recording at one point, but after he asked us to hold hands, I stopped recording and didn’t go back to it.

“I just worshipped and prayed. Another highlight was Minister Ofori-Attah’s ministration. It was fun. It was lit. Yet the focus was not taken from Jesus or from praising Him.”

As the night progressed, heartfelt acknowledgements were made to individuals and groups who contributed to the choir’s success. Special mention was given to parents, spouses, family members and vendors who have supported Gramophone

Ghana throughout the years. One member shared in  the documentary: “All the ups and downs, the travelling, the rehearsals, making sure scripts are in place and the programmes were organised have brought us this far by God’s grace.”

The planning for this celebration involved tireless teamwork, with organisers sharing in the documentary their experiences of late-night meetings and the uncertainties they faced in executing their vision.

Despite the challenges, the commitment of the audience remained unwavering, providing essential support by purchasing tickets and attending the event. “Your support has been invaluable to us,” one planner noted, gratitude evident in their voice.

In the released documentary, the rich history of the choir was celebrated, recalling how it began with humble aspirations and evolved into a significant musical entity.

The first Fellowship of Songs was highlighted, illustrating how it paved the way for future concerts and events. “We said we would do 60 minutes. We started at 6, and by 7, we were closed. People came at 7:05 and were disappointed. That has always stuck with me,” one member recalled, humorously reflecting on the challenges of early performances.

As the night culminated in a powerful celebration, members united in song, embodying the essence of ‘An Endless Hallelujah’. The energy peaked as attendees danced together, celebrating the spirit of community that Gramophone Ghana represents. “When we were starting, we faced numerous obstacles, but we came together as a family, helping each other through thick and thin,” one member shared.

The evening was filled with joyful moments as members reminisced about past rehearsals, humorous mishaps, and the bonds formed over shared experiences. The camaraderie was evident, reminding everyone that the heart of Gramophone Ghana lies in the relationships built over the years.

There was a profound sense of fulfilment and anticipation for the future. Both members and their audience left with renewed commitment, inspired to use their voices and talents to spread messages of hope and faith.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement as everyone looked forward to what the next decade would bring.

In celebrating ten remarkable years, Gramophone Ghana not only honoured their past but also embraced the future – ready to tackle new challenges and achieve even greater heights in their musical journey. “As we look back, we also look ahead with hope and determination,” one member expressed, a fitting sentiment for the celebration.

With hearts full of gratitude and voices lifted in praise, Gramophone Ghana’s members reaffirmed their commitment to making a difference through music and community, echoing the timeless message of their theme, ‘An Endless Hallelujah’.
