Kofikrom Pharmacy Limited has officially opened a new ultra-modern retail pharmacy in South La, Greater Accra Region, expanding reach in the pharmaceutical industry.

The move reinforces the company’s mission to become a leader in healthcare provision in Ghana and beyond.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Kofi Addo-Agyekum, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Kofikrom Pharmacy, reflected on the pharmacy’s nine-year journey in the healthcare industry, emphasising its commitment to offering high-quality pharmaceutical products and services.

He said this retail outlet would offer innovative services, including online orders, 24-hour operations, and home delivery, setting it apart from traditional pharmacies.

He added that the retail division is not only about dispensing medicines but also about enhancing patient care and satisfaction through modern pharmaceutical practices.

“This retail outlet is not just about dispensing medicines. It represents our dedication to modern pharmaceutical practices aimed at enhancing patient care and satisfaction. Through services like 24-hour operations, home delivery, and online orders, we are transforming the pharmacy experience,” Dr. Addo-Agyekum stated.

He noted that the establishment of the South La retail division aligns with Kofikrom’s broader expansion strategy and highlights the company’s evolution from a single-person operation to a thriving organization with over 50 employees and nearly 100 registered products.

The CEO highlighted Kofikrom’s focus on improving the pharmaceutical supply chain in the country, underscoring the importance of proper storage and transportation of medicines.

He therefore called for industry-wide adherence to best practices to maintain product quality and patient safety.

“We are committed to ensuring that pharmaceuticals are handled with professionalism and care, meeting regulatory standards to safeguard public health,” he emphasised.

He also took the opportunity to reaffirm Kofikrom’s dedication to excellence and its long-term vision for the future of healthcare delivery, while attributing the strides made so far to efforts of suppliers and customers.

The CEO acknowledged the challenges faced by the pharmaceutical sector, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, but stressed that these challenges had created opportunities for innovation and growth.

In response to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s call for local industries to step up during the pandemic, Kofikrom launched a small-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing unit, introducing 25 new products to its portfolio.

He also commended the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for its timely registration of Kofikrom’s COVID-19 preventive products, which enabled the company to meet the demand for locally produced medical supplies.

Dr. Addo-Agyekum dedicated the new pharmacy to the memory of his late grandmother, Obaapanyin Felicia Akosua Agyarkobea.

“I acknowledge the contribution of my beloved grandmother, Maame Akosua. Her impact on my life is divine, and this dedication is a lasting tribute to her legacy,” he remarked.
