Koogo Atia to run for Ghana in Sanlam Cape Town marathon

Koogo Atia, winner of the 2023 First National Bank Accra Marathon, is set to participate in the 2024 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on October 20 2024 as the only elite runner from Ghana. This has been made possible through First National Bank’s collaboration with SanlamAllianz in Ghana.

First National Bank CEO, Warren Adams, expressed his delight to have Koogo represent Ghana on the global stage. “Koogo’s exceptional talent, dedication and passion for the athletic sport makes him an ideal ambassador for Ghana in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon,” he said.

He further asserted that placing Koogo Atia in such a prominent race provides the athlete with an opportunity to represent the country and show off the prospects of professional talents from Ghana. “First National Bank is resolute about the impact we can make in uplifting our community with the right collaboration and initiatives.

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon unites all with a shared love of sports and fun, showcasing the gorgeous sights of the mother city of Cape Town.

On her part, the CEO of Sanlam Allianz General Insurance Ghana, Mabel Nana Nyarkoa Porbley, expressed her excitement about the collaboration with First National Bank to support Koogo Atia and is hopeful this will deepen the collaborative business relations between the two entities in Ghana, while supporting to propel sports in Ghana and on the continent.

Koogo Atia thanked First National Bank and SanlamAllianz for the opportunity. “I am honoured to represent Ghana and compete against some of the best athletes around the world. I am training tirelessly to ensure I am in top form, and I am confident that I can make a strong showing,” he concluded.

This year’s First National Bank Accra Marathon, organised by the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, is scheduled for October 12 2024. Registration is now open for the youth half marathon as well as the 5km corporate and kiddie races. Interested runners can register via graphic.com.gh/accramarathon.
