Lancaster University Ghana has pledged continuous support to socio-economic development through the development of its students.

Referencing a previous colloquium held in collaboration with the Vienna University of Economics and Business in February this year, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lancaster University Ghana, noted during his speech at the 8th undergraduate graduation ceremony that the colloquium will remain an annual event.

“Students, thought-leaders, academics and industry practitioners will be given a platform to contribute their knowledge for socio-economic development.”

He further added that the university’s pre COVID-19 flagship programme, ‘Business Cup Challenge’ for high schools which was relaunched in February, will also be an annual event to partner them and build their skills and competences before they commence tertiary education.

Speaking on employability, Mr. Arthur indicated that over ninety students of the university undertook internships with various local and international institutions to enable them merge theory with practice.

He emphasised the university’s commitment to providing high quality and global standards to students, particularly on the African continent.

Highlighting the importance of technology, the Vice Chancellor revealed that an artificial Intelligence lab is almost completed and will serve all students irrespective of the course being studied.

He congratulated grandates and urged them to pursue higher positions in paths they take after school.

Pro Vice-Chancellor – Lancaster University United Kingdom, Professor Simon Guy, also praised the grandates for their achievements and advised them to be problem-solving individuals and encourage adaptation to change.

He also repeated Lancaster University’s commitment to producing graduates needed to fulfil the country’s ambitions of growing economically – and further announced plans to open a new overseas campus in Indonesia, stressing that it is part of Lancaster’s broader vision for global outreach and inclusivity.

The university held its 8th undergraduate graduation ceremony in Accra on 23rd September, 2024 and saw more than forty students from different countries receive degrees in various fields.
