Hubert Baidoo, Lead Economic Analyst for the New Force, has emphasized that Ghana’s challenges are complex and require comprehensive solutions.
In an interview on Happy 98.9’s Happy Morning Show, Mr. Baidoo stressed that the New Force acknowledges the intricacy of the problems and will adopt a multi-level approach to address them.
“Ghana’s issues are complex and can’t be solved overnight. We need to build from the ground up, and our leaders are aware of the loopholes but are unwilling to address them because it would reduce their power,” Mr. Baidoo said. “We need to take a holistic approach, considering economic, social, and political factors to create a comprehensive solution.”
He proposed that the 16 regions of Ghana should be semi-autonomous, with CEOs appointed to manage them like corporations. “We need to run regions like businesses, making them profitable and self-sufficient. This will encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.”
Mr. Baidoo highlighted the need for deliberate efforts to build up Ghana’s regions, citing the example of Accra. “We need to upgrade and develop other regions like Kumasi, Bolgatanga, and Tamale to rival developed cities like Dubai and Singapore. This will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and reduce inequality.”
The New Force is committed to implementing these changes, with Nana Kwame Bediako being the first candidate to propose appointing CEOs for regional development. “We need a paradigm shift in how we govern and develop our country. The New Force is ready to lead this change,” Mr. Baidoo concluded.
