Societe Generale Ghana, in partnership with the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), has instituted a mortgage product known as the Societe Generale (SG) Ghana Home Sweet Loan as part of efforts to help customers achieve their dream of homeownership.

The initiative is set to offer competitive loan options adjusted to meet the various needs of customers in a dynamic real estate market.

In a speech, Managing Director-Societe Generale Ghana, Hakim Ouzzani, stressed the  initiative’s need – adding that it is designed to assist customers with purchasing, constructing or releasing equity from their homes with flexible repayment terms that cater to individual financial goals.

“The new SG Ghana Home Sweet loan is uniquely designed to address the evolving needs of our customers in today’s dynamic real estate market. Whether you are purchasing a new house, opting for equity release on an existing property or constructing your own house, our mortgage offering provides flexible and competitive options tailored to meet your individual needs,” he stated.

“For us at Societe Generale Ghana, homeownership is more than just acquiring a property; it is about creating a sanctuary, building a future and investing in stability and security. We understand the emotional and financial significance that comes with purchasing a home, and we are committed to making this journey as seamless and rewarding as possible for our customers,” Mr. Ouzzani said.

According to the Managing Director there are different ranges of homeownership due to the diverse financial situations of customers, allowing them to choose the option that best suits their financial goals. It is for this reason that SG Ghana partnered with GREDA and other credible real estate providers to offer their customers credible options from very high-end housing to affordable housing units.

“We have further streamlined our approval process to make it faster and more efficient, so you can move into your new home without unnecessary delays. Our dedicated mortgage advisors are here to guide you through every step of the process, offering expertise, personalised advice and support to help you make one of the most important decisions of your life,” he revealed.

Speaking at the event, president of GREDA Patrick Ebo Bonful mentioned that: “GREDA sees the launch of SG Ghana’s ‘Home Sweet Loan Mortgage Finance Product’ as timely and welcome news, especially for prospective home buyers”.

Referring to data provided by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Mr. Bonful noted that the Ghana housing stock increased by 6.1m between 2000 and 2021. He said the downside to this, however, is that 90 percent of this increase was not financed through a formal home mortgage finance programme.

“On this , we at GREDA wish SG Ghana great success in this ‘Home Sweet Loan’ product launch – and we would like to use this medium in calling for more collaboration between GREDA and SG Ghana for our common benefit,” he stated.
