Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential hopeful, has hit the campaign trail, embarking on a constituency-to-constituency tour. The launch of his campaign comes on the heels of the recent announcement of his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in a high-profile event in Kumasi.

Delivering on Promises: Dr. Bawumia’s Tatale/Sanguli address
During a recent community engagement in Tatale, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reminded the constituents of his record of delivering on promises. “When I campaigned here in 2020, I pledged to fix the crucial road linking Tatale to Yendi and Tamale,” he stated.
“Today, 167 kilometers (km) of this road is almost completed, with the contractor promising completion within two months. This is the longest road constructed by this government, demonstrating my commitment even as Vice President.”
He, therefore, stated “So, you can see that even as Vice President, I have fulfilled the promise I made to you. When you make me President, you can be confident that I will fulfil my promises to you.”
Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s achievements in Tatale / Sanguli, including connecting 44 communities to the national electricity grid, with 15 more to be added by year-end. He also addressed the water challenges by noting the 175 boreholes sunk in the constituency and promised more infrastructural developments such as an Agenda 111 hospital.
He urged constituents to maintain their faith in the NPP for the 2024 elections, pointing to his developmental record compared to his main opponent, John Mahama. “Under John Mahama, the north regressed. Under Nana Akufo-Addo and myself, the north has seen massive development. With me as President, you will witness even more,” he pledged.
Breaking ground for first STEM College of Education
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has initiated the construction of the country’s first government-owned Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) College of Education in Karaga, Northern region.
When completed, the Namburugu STEM College of Education, located at Karaga in the Northern Region, will train persons desirous of teaching STEM in Senior High and other schools across the country.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s dedication to transforming the education sector to meet 21st-century demands. “Our investment in education is evident through initiatives like Free Senior High School, Free TVET education, and the construction of specialized STEM schools, one of which is not too far from here, in Kpasinkpe, and recently, the supply of Tablets to students in SHS.”
This new tertiary institution further demonstrates our commitment to preparing our children for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, he added.
Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, assured that the college will feature modern facilities, including an 800-seater auditorium, an ICT centre, and accommodation for students and staff.
This project, he said, reflects the government’s vision of creating world-class training facilities for future educators.
Since 2017, the government has seen to the construction of a number of STEM schools (JHS and SHS) across the country, including the Awaso STEM School in the Western Region, Abomosu STEM School in the Eastern Region, Bosomtwe Girls STEM School and Bosomtwe STEM School, both in the Ashanti Region, the Accra High School (Engineering only) in the Greater Accra Region and the Kpasemkpe STEM School in the North East Region.
Many of these institutions have since been integrated into the Education mainstream, admitting their first batch of students.
Buipewura’s endorsement of Bawumia
In a strong show of support, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is divinely appointed to lead Ghana.
During Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the Buipe palace, as part of his constituency-focused nationwide campaign, the Overlord praised his leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his capability to guide the nation towards development.
“Truly, you are appointed by God to stand in for Ghana,” B Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II stated, blessing Dr. Bawumia and urging him to stay focused on his vision and policies.
As part of his nationwide campaign, Dr. Bawumia has been presenting his 70-point vision for Ghana’s holistic development, reinforcing his commitment to leading the country to new heights.
Urging Dr Bawumia to remain resolute and focused on marketing his vision and proposed policies, the Overlord of Buipe pronounced blessings on the NPP flagbearer.
“Dr Bawumia, I have stretched my two hands on you with all my blessings. May the good Lord help you and see you through.”
Kpandai chiefs pledge support
In a show of support, the chiefs and people of the Nchumuru and Nawuri Traditional Areas in Kpandai District have lauded the vision and policies of NPP flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Citing his role in transformational initiatives like Free SHS and Agenda 111, they praised his leadership and contributions.
During an engagement with key stakeholders in the Kpandai constituency, the chiefs pledged to support Dr. Bawumia, expressing their appreciation for his efforts to ensure rapid and holistic development in Ghana.
Nana Bayimgne II and Nana Abuga-Aba I, Paramount Chiefs of Nchumuru and Nawuri Traditional Areas, delivered a joint address highlighting Bawumia’s impact. “Your Excellency, the people of Kpandai are proud of you for the role you played as Vice President in supporting His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policies that addressed inequalities in the country,”
The Chiefs noted, “Your administration has demonstrated to the people of Kpandai that equity is your hallmark, bringing significant development to our district.”
The chiefs extolled Dr. Bawumia’s admirable character traits, encouraging him to stay true to his humble and focused nature. “Continue to be whom we know you to be. Your humility will send you far. Concentrate on your seventy-point vision for the country.”
In their closing remarks, they affectionately referred to Dr. Bawumia as “Dr. Digitalization” and assured him of their support. “We wish to assure you that we, as a people, will demonstrate that Breaking the 8 is possible.”
