Assemblies of God Church-Ghana and the First Sky Group have cut the sod for constructing 50 church buildings and mission-houses in rural Greater Accra Region.
The project is funded by First Sky Group as part of its commitment to use 30 percent of the company’s net profit to do the work of God for humanity.
The 50 Legacy Temples will accordingly be completed by end of year, the Group noted.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony at Prampram on July 15 to officially start construction of the temples, General Superintendent-Assemblies of God, Rev. Stephen Wengam, commended First Sky Group for responding to the call to construct the Legacy Temples poject.
The Project, Rev. Wengam explained, is an initiative by the church to build 50 Assemblies of God temples in different rural communities starting from the Greater Accra Region.
He said through the intervention First Sky Group in the Legacy Temple Project, local Assemblies of God churches will have the respite to focus their resources on other key aspects of the Kingdom work, including resourcing pastors among others.
“Assemblies of God-Ghana is grateful to Deacon Emeritus Eric Kutortse and his wife Pastor Rose Kutortse, and the entire First Sky Group for this very critical intervention in the growth of our church,” Rev. Wengam acknowledged.
Addressing dignitaries at the sod-cutting ceremony, Chairman-First Sky Group, Deacon Emeritus Eric Kutortse said this investment in the church is a long-term decision by the company to devote 30 percent of its net profit for Kingdom work to bring relief to the church and humanity.
“We have been doing this religiously over the past eight years, whereby the Group has already built some 72 churches across the country. Our key objective for this new 50 Legacy Temples project is to use our resources for eliminating classroom churches and those held under trees, and to bring dignity to the priesthood,” he said.
He explained that the motive for constructing 50 mission-houses as part of the project is to provide decent accommodation for pastors, who sometimes struggle to rent conducive housing facilities while doing the work of God.
Design and features of the project
Speaking on the projects features, a member of its supervisory committee, Mr. John Awate, said the 50 temples range from 200 to 450-seat capacities in the various beneficiary communities.
Each of the auditoriums have separate capacities for children and teens. Also, the temples are equipped with a pastor’s office, washrooms, a general office and its washrooms.
All 50 mission-houses are equipped with master-bedrooms with lavatories, study rooms and a kitchen among other key facilities, according to the temple’s size and seating capacities.
