PureTrust Foundation has handed over a three-unit teacher’s accommodation block to the Ghana Education Service (GES) at Abasomakura Primary School in the Bole district of Savannah Region.
The gesture, a collaboration between Vibrant Village Foundation (VVF) and PureTrust Foundation (PTF), aims at providing decent accommodation for teachers as part of their mission in contributing to quality education. The project was funded by Vibrant Village Foundation (VVF), a private foundation from Portland-Oregon State, United States of America.
The handing-over event brought together some key stakeholders in the district; such as the chiefs and people of Abasomakura, representatives from the GES, representatives of the Bole District Assembly and other PureTrust Foundation partners.
The Coordinating Director of Bole District Assembly, Adam Habib – who represented the District Chief Executive, Veronica Alele, commended the organisation and its partners for working tirelessly to complement the assembly’s efforts to promote quality education in the district.
“Teacher accommodation has been a concern to the Assembly, and this facility will go a long way in motivating the beneficiary teachers to give their best,” he said.
He gave assurance of the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with PureTrust Foundation in making the district a better place for all, adding that government alone cannot provide the needs of citizens.
The Bole District Director of Education, represented by Human Resource Manager, Sumani Thompson, expressed profound gratitude to PureTrust Foundation for the investment made into the educational sector in the district.
The Regional Partnerships Director-West Africa, Vibrant Village Foundation, Osman Mohammed, commended PureTrust Foundation for the project’s successful completion. He encouraged teachers to make effective use of the facility.
The chief of Abasumakura, Saaka Dramani Abasoma, on his part expressed gratitude to PureTrust Foundation for the facility.
Over the years, he said, PureTrust Foundation had provided two boreholes, marker boards and textbooks, among others, to the community.
The chief further appealed to government for a school feeding programme in the Abasumakura Primary School to encourage more children to stay in school.
“Most children often run home from school due to hunger, and the school feeding programme could serve as a solution to keep the children in school throughout teaching periods,” he said.
Madam Pelvou Ajara, Leader of Abasomakura women group, thanked PureTrust Foundation for investing into the lives and education of their children. She urged parents to prioritise education of the children by sending them to school, and ensuring that they stay in school to learn.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PureTrust Foundation, Mr. Habib Haruna, in a speech read by communications officer Miss RuhaimatuYazidu, noted the event marked a significant moment in the journey of PureTrust Foundation as an organisation that is passionate about promoting quality education and contributing to achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.
He described the teachers’ quarters as a testament and confirmation of the organisation`s commitment to providing a safe, pleasant and productive environment for both teachers and pupils.
“In this modest abode, it is a space where teachers can find solace, inspiration and the support they deserve to be productive in their teaching profession and become results-oriented teachers,” he said.

The event also coincided with 16 days of activism against Violence on women and girls – where Miss Ruhaimatu called for policy implementation to protect young girls and boys in society.
She stressed that the young lady’s role is to communicate that parents should give equal opportunity to their children, both boys and girls.
