Barely a year after being launched, Tale Beer has won three awards at the prestigious African Beer Cup Awards 2023 held in Cape Town, South Africa. The awards recognize and celebrate excellence in the African beer industry, and Tale Beers Ghana emerged as top performers.
Being the first Ghanaian beer brand to have ever won 3 awards, Tale Beers are brewed with locally sourced raw materials. The beers are made with over 70% un-husked grains and to ensure the clarity of the beers without stripping any flavour or aroma, the beers are passed through a centrifuge filtration system. The beer range consists of Farmhouse Ale (green) Ginger Triple (yellow), Hibiscus IPA (red) and Cocoa Stout (black) Tales, which is a tribute to the national colours of Ghana.
These incredible flavours of Tale Beers have shown distinctiveness at the African Beer Cup Awards with Farmhouse Ale winning Gold Awards, Ginger Triple winning Silver Award and Cocoa Stout walking away with Bronze Awards.
Speaking about the awards, Kristof Henot the Managing Director of Specialty Beers Ghana Limited, brewers of Tale Beers said: “we are honoured to receive these awards, which are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team. We are committed to brewing beer that not only satisfies the taste buds of our consumers but also reflects the rich cultural heritage of Ghana. We will continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible in the African beer industry”
“Tale Beers are a high-end selection of unique African craft beers, brewed right here in Nsawam, Ghana. These awards are a testament to our commitment to brewing high-quality beer that resonates with consumers across Ghana and beyond”, he added
Specialty Beers Ghana Limited (SGBL) launched Tale Beers in 2022 and the beers have quickly established themselves as leading players in Ghana’s brewing industry. With this recent success, SGBL looks set to continue its growth and cement its position as one of the best craft beer brands in Africa.
The company invested in developing its recipes with the assistance of a Belgian university using mainly adjuncts such as broken rice, hereby replacing malted barley, which cannot be sourced in Ghana. Tale Beers are tasty African craft ales with a story. The perfect blend of African ingredients and Belgian brewing technology.
The African Beer Cup recently held its fourth annual competition in Cape Town, with 232 beers from 20 African countries evaluated by a panel of 52 judges from 16 different countries. The competition is unique in that each beer is judged twice and all judging is blind, with judges focusing on stylistic accuracy rather than personal preference. A total of 60 medals were awarded according to the Beer Judge Certification Program guidelines, with only one medal of each type per category. The awards ceremony took place at Woodstock Brewery in Cape Town on April 22.
