MTN Ghana has presented food items and other consumables including GH₵1000 worth of airtime to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Moomen Haroun at the Kumasi Central Mosque.
The items included a ram, 10 bags of rice, a drum of cooking oil, 27 packs of soft drinks and 10 cartons of mineral water.
General Manager of MTN Northern Business District, Nii Adotey Mingle, presenting the items, commended the Muslim community for the sacrifice of fasting and praying for Ghanaians and pledged MTN’s commitment to support the Muslim community all the time.
“MTN as a business entity is committed to supporting activities its stakeholders take particular interest in. For Ramadan and its ensuing Eid, the company sees it as a duty to donate to enable Muslim leaders enjoy its celebrations”, Mr. Mingle said.
He then disclosed that MTN Ghana has committed about GH ₵90, 000.00 towards the Eid celebrations where donations have been made to most Muslim communities in the country.
Sim Card Registration
The General Manager, urged the public to complete their sim card registrations, adding that MTN had set up at vantage points to enable patrons have easy access.
Mr. Mingle noted further that the National Communications Authority (NCA), has asked the various telecommunication companies to delete inactive numbers from their databases. Therefore, it is necessary for people to complete the registrations now.
MTN Bright Scholarships Application
The General Manager revealed that MTN has opened its scholarship application portal for needy but brilliant students to access and added that the portal closes on the 31st May, 2023.
He therefore, encouraged interested students to complete the application on the MTN Ghana website.
The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Moomen Haroun, receiving the items thanked MTN for their consistent support over the years, blessed the officials and prayed for the success of the MTN brand.
Sheikh Haroun then seized the opportunity to caution the Muslim youth to desist from unhealthy practices as well as dangerous kinds of celebrations during the Eid.
“The youth are the future leaders of Ghana hence, they should put up good behaviours and undertake any celebration associated with the EID in moderation”, he stated.
