As a customer service trainer, I always try to come up with acronyms, I believe this can be a great way to connect to the word. Last time I came up with an acronym for the word positive, and used different words to describe each letter in the word. In this day and age where things are not so easy, we need to keep ourselves upbeat, and let me use the word again, positive. We need to keep ourselves motivated; therefore, I have come up with an acronym for the word motivation. Read along to find the real meaning of the word motivation according to LadySam.

M stands for move. People often tend to make excuses for why they are where they are, and why they haven’t done anything about the ambitions that they have. Often, you will find that the real reason that people do not pursue their dreams is because of that word called fear. Fear is normal BUT in spite of it, you can still pursue your goals – you need to take the first step and move; that is the only way to get you to where you want to, from where you are. Just move!

O stands for own it. You cannot wait for anyone to help you get to where you need to get to. Take ownership of your life, don’t blame others for where you are or where you are not because even if where you are is as a result of what someone else did to you, you cannot turn back time. Take ownership and move; unless of course it is as a result of something traumatic – if that is the case, then try to seek help, own it and get the help you need.

T stands for time. It is for you to recognise that time is very precious, so make the most of it.

I stands for innovative. Try to find ways to be creative. Looking at things differently can give you a new lease of life.

V stands for victory. Being motivated basically means having a victorious attitude.

A stands for appreciation. You may not be where you want to be but you are better than many people out there. Appreciate what you have now while on your route to getting to your goal.

T stands for talk. Talk to your peers, loved ones, friends, and let them tell you where they see your strengths. If there is a common trait identified, then this can serve as real motivation and help you to harness your strength.

I – Remember there is no I in team, you sometimes need to work with others to achieve your desired results. Knowing that you do not have to do it alone can serve as some sort of motivation.

O stands for open. Be open for feedback. Constructive feedback helps with personal growth.

N stands for notebook. Having a notebook is handy and helps you to achieve what you need to achieve on your to do list. There is nothing more motivating than seeing the things on your to-do list being ticked off because you have accomplished them. It keeps you on track and guides you.

Let us continue to work on the areas that will keep us motivated.
