Some officials from the University of Lincoln, England, have paid a working visit to its affiliate school in Ghana – Regent University College of Science and Technology – as part of efforts to deepen their relationship.
In attendance were Dr. Paul Igwe, Regional Academic Lead – West Africa and East Africa, Lincoln International Business School and Prof. David Rugara, Head of International, Lincoln International Business School – University of Lincoln, UK.
President, Regent University College of Science and Technology, Prof. Ernest Ofori Asamoah, during a press briefing on the visit noted that the partnership which is based on teaching, learning and curriculum was signed virtually when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. Therefore, it is only prudent for their partners to meet and know the students, and see the campus of the school.
Prof. Asamoah then elaborated on the details of the partnership and scholarship opportunities for both students and staff.
“Students having satisfactorily completed an undergraduate degree offered by Regent University College of Science and Technology will be treated by the University of Lincoln as having completed the equivalent of a UK undergraduate honours degree as specified by the Quality Assurance Agency’s Framework for Higher Education Qualifications.,” he said.
“There will also be a staff exchange/mobility opportunity, where one staff member from Regent University College of Science and Technology will be fully sponsored by Lincoln International Business School to visit the University of Lincoln as part of professional development.
“The duration will not exceed 2 weeks, and conditions will be determined by the Lincoln International Business School Head of International. Lincoln International Business School will award a Research and Professional Development Grant (RPDG) to Regent University College of Science and Technology each academic year,” Prof. Ofori Asamoah elaborated.
Dr. Paul Igwe from the University of Lincoln International Business School noted that the partnership happened due to the similarities in the mission and vision of both universities.
“Our visit today is to extend that relationship by getting to know Regent University, and getting to know the people that run the activities here, which we are part of as we collaborate in order to extend and develop the missions of both universities. We are both entrepreneurial universities and this motivated us to form the partnership since we are sharing the same ideas, vision and mission toward developing knowledge and entrepreneurial mindset,” he said.
Prof. Rugara also explained that another key reason for the partnership and the visit is to foster the relationship that has been forged, and to help the students build their capacity to have a global mindset to achieve global competencies.
