The second edition of the Conservation Mine and Reclamation Awards is expected to be held in Takoradi during the Ghana Gold Expo Mining Week in April 2022.

This is a unique award that seeks to recognise excellence in responsible mining in Africa, Dr. Steven Blessing Ackah, Executive Director of ViewTag Ghana Gold Expo, told the media.

“As is well projected, the core of the Ghana Gold Expo Mining Week event is to pursue and successfully entrench potentials of minerals and sustainability of the gold processing value chain: from environmentally safe extraction to exclude harmful chemicals, to best practices, formalisation, incentives for explorations, driving trade channels all the way – to innovation and gold optimization management,” he explained.

According to him, Ghana Gold Expo has been leading the way in the African context of driving a new innovative thinking and action across the gold and mining industry holistically, as it focuses on responsible mining and best practices such as reclamation and conservation projects within the mining value chain.

“Reclamation may involve returning a mined site to a more natural state through recontouring, revegetation, technology or adapting the site to a beneficial end use,” he explained.

Brand voice History:
