ASA Savings and Loans Limited has entreated its teaming clientele to continue to contribute to ensuring business sustainability, as they donated an amount of GH₵10,000 to support the education of 20 children in two of their operational areas.
The gesture which forms part of the corporate social responsibility activities of the firm is hoped will lessen the burden of parents especially in these moments of economic difficulties.
It is also expected that the support to the parents will give the children an opportunity to complete their basic education.
The twenty beneficiaries were selected from two different business centers of ASA Savings and Loans, in the Ashanti South Division operational area – Boete in Obuasi Municipality and Kotwi, Atwima Kwanwoma District.
The Junior Divisional Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, Mithu Bhushan Debnath, said the confidence and trust reposed by customers over the years helped ASA to achieve business sustainability, especially in the Ashanti region.
He, however, acknowledged the difficulties that the business community continues to experience due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It is believed that the economic hardship caused by the pandemic has affected the ability of most of the customers to meet the educational needs of their children.
It is because of these challenges among others that, he said ASA Savings and Loans committed, as part of giving back to customers, to assist some of them to settle the school fees of their wards.
The Area Manager for Ashanti South Division, Mr. Sekyi Odame Samuel, was optimistic that the customers will realize these important contributions, no matter how small, and continue to do business with them.
He said the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has had far-reaching implications for everyone, especially small and medium businesses.
It is to recognize these difficulties that, he said, ASA Savings and Loans periodically give out this nature of support to customers.
One of the beneficiary parents, Hilda Ofosu, speaking at the back of a short ceremony to present the cheque to the parents, noted that the effort made by ASA is deeply appreciated.
Particularly for the businesswomen and traders who are no longer trading due to the collapse of their businesses due to the pandemic, she said the support was timely.
