GEA bid farewell to Norwegian Ambassador

The Ghana Employers Association (GEA) has bid farewell to the outgoing Norwegian Ambassador to Ghana, Gunnar Andreas Holm commending him for his contribution towards the growth and sustainability of businesses for national development.

According to the Association during his tenure, he facilitated programmes bordering on job creation; oil and gas; fisheries; environmental protection; livelihood improvement; gender inclusiveness and the Sustainable Development Goals.

A citation presented to the envoy by GEA officials read in part; “Your invaluable contribution towards the work of the Association and by extension the development of the private sector in Ghana is outstanding and remarkable.”

The presentation was the highpoint of a meeting convened by the GEA in Accra to bid farewell to Mr Holm, having completed his four-year duty tour which began in September, 2017.

The GEA officials included Dan Acheampong , President ; Emmanuel Addo , Council member ; Alex Frimpong , Chief Executive Officer; Yvonne Asare-Yeboah, Director  and Eugene Abraham, Research Manager while the Envoy was accompanied by  Fred Pappoe , an official from the Embassy.

Mr Acheampong said the relations between the Association and the Embassy had been solid especially following their collaboration on the “Female Future” programme, a women’s leadership development initiative designed to address gender gaps in organisation leadership.

He said the programme was in line with GEA’s commitment towards women development and ensuring that women were part of decision making and not only made secretaries.

He said Mr Holm had not only built a solid foundation for the GEA to build upon but had also contributed to the fight against COVID-19, supported social dialogue through training of mediators and arbitrators which were cherished.

On his part, Mr Holm, thanked GEA for its cooperation during his stay and the honour done him, noting that all the programmes he facilitated were to foster the relations between the two countries.

He said his country would continue to support the socio-economic development of the country through various interventions including encouraging Norwegian Business Community to invest in Ghana.
