Who wins VGMA22?

The Artist of the Year category has always been a difficult one to crack and this year presents another hot challenge. It presents a mixture of two artist who have been on the winning end of this particular category and four others who are not necessarily in this category for the first time but are yet to grab the crown. The reigning Artist of the Year, Kwame Eugene, is in there against two times winner (2010, 2012) Sarkodie who is hoping to grab it for the third time.

Other strong contenders in that category include female superpower, Adina, reigning Gospel Artist of the Year, Diana Hamilton, High Life sensation, KiDi and rap monster, Medikal. These are the artists hoping to win it for the first time in their music careers.

Who wins Best African Artist?

Another category that usually gets a lot of attention at the VGMAs over the years is the African Artist of the Year. This year, that category has been massively dominated by Nigerian artists, five out of the six contenders are Nigerians with three faces being popular to this category; Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy. The only non-Nigerian in this category is a South African by name Master KG, who will be competing for the first time in this category against equally first timers; Fireboy DML and Omah Lay.

Before you make your guess for who walks away with the award tonight, it will interest you to know however that currently holding onto that award is Burna Boy and he is coming back into this category just few months after grabbing a Grammy Award, with his Twice as Tall Studio Album.

Not forgetting the strong input of Davido and Wizkid in the year under review and the strong grounds Omah Lay has gain in the country recently. This category seems to be hottest this year.
