The Peru Ambassador, Abel Antonio Cardenas Tuppia, has paid a visit to Kandifo Institute. His visit follows an earlier one paid by Kandifo Institute to the Peruvian embassy two months earlier. Ambassador Tuppia was received by Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Executive Director of Kandifo Institute and his team.

In conversations with the Kandifo team, Ambassador Tuppia touched on Peru’s upcoming 200-year celebration of Independence from the Spanish Empire on July 28, 2021, and extended an invitation to the Institute, encouraging the team to participate in the cultural-academic exhibitions – which was gladly welcomed by the team.

There was more dialogue between the team and Ambassador, wherein a great relationship was established and further discussions had on helping the youth in both Ghana and Peru by seeking opportunities to support them.

“It is gives much pleasure for Kandifo Institute to see that as a reality, and we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Ambassador Abel Antonio Cardenas Tuppia for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Kandifo Institute. H.E. further suggested that the team organise a roundtable dialogue to delve deeply into matters of the youth and development,” he said.

Peru has a beautiful history which connotes a tropical country in western South America. The name Peru is derived from Quechua, which means a land of abundance; and Peru is the third-largest country in South America after Brazil and Argentina. Because it has so many different ecosystems, Peru is home to a wider variety of plants and animals than most other countries on Earth.

In addition to being known as the cradle of the Inca empire, Peru harbours many indigenous ethnic groups, making it a major historical and cultural site. Peru continues its policy of gradual economic liberalisation with very strong economic growth. The economic growth has been fuelled by macroeconomic stability, improved terms of trade, rising investment and consumption.

Peru has built relations in Africa, and they have embassies in Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco and South Africa. Peru’s first diplomatic relations with an African country were established with Egypt. The Peruvian embassy in Cairo is the oldest Peruvian Mission in Africa.

“Peru is a multicultural country that is proud of its diversity. Having relations with Peru, we believe is very important for Kandifo Institute and the country at large – specifically, the youth of Ghana. This relationship, we believe, has created a platform whereby we will be able to reach out to so many young people, train them and prepare them for their future roles, as the help contributes to development of both countries,” Mr. Boakye-Danquah noted.

Ambassador Tuppia ended his visit with a reminder of Kandifo Institute’s participation in the Peru@200 celebration and urged the entire team to keep up with the good work, most especially creating avenues for youth empowerment. He admonished the team to keep pushing for the very best.
