Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has concluded its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility campaign, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive digital growth and sustainable community development under the theme “Connecting at the Roots: Connecting Communities with Digital Tools.”
Held in Accra, the closing ceremony, was marked by heartfelt reflections, impactful achievements, and a renewed call to action.
Delivering the keynote address, Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer – MTN Ghana, described the campaign as “an outpouring of care, commitment, and purpose,” adding that the campaign saw an observable progress made in digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and community development. “From the pottery sheds of Torgome to smart farms in Nyankpala, and ICT hubs in Tolon to classrooms in Nyinahin, we gave more than our time, we gave our hearts,” Ms. Wiafe noted.
Impacts
According to the Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, the campaign directly impacted over 1,800 individuals across all 16 regions of Ghana. In partnership with Uni-Jay Limited and Opportunity Industrialisation Technical Institute (OITI), 500 schoolchildren received uniforms, with the aim of encouraging school attendance and dignity.
Over 100 youth were also trained in mobile phone repair and diagnostics, equipping them with marketable skills for self-employment and more than two hundred women artisans were trained in modern pottery and digital business techniques.
Again, 30 computers were donated to ICT hubs, expanding digital literacy to over a thousand students in rural areas. A smart farm was launched in Nyankpala, training farmers in climate-smart agriculture using real-time agri-tech tools, while thousands were digitally rolled onto the MyMTN App and mCare, improving access to essential services.
Acknowledging the contribution of partners, Ms. Wiafe thanked volunteers and strategic partners whose support was very inspiring and impactful. Some partners included Hollard Green Tech, Duapa Workspace, Pel’s Farms, Mobile Web Ghana among others. “Your belief and collaboration fueled this journey. Together, we’ve laid a foundation – not just in bricks, but in dignity, confidence, and economic potential,” she said.
As part of the Y’ello Care initiative, MTN commissioned a new digital truck that will travel to deprived areas across the country to equip the underserved with essential digital skills. She further reaffirmed MTN Ghana’s long-standing commitment to shared value, responsible leadership and giving back to the society.
