FirstBank Ghana has officially inaugurated a new state-of-the-art branch in the Ashaiman Municipality, marking a strategic expansion into one of the country’s most vibrant commercial hubs.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Accra East Area Manager of FirstBank, Gloria Andoh, described the event as a significant milestone in the bank’s nearly 30-year journey of delivering quality financial services to Ghanaians.
“This branch signifies our commitment to delivering excellent banking services and helping clients meet their financial goals,” she said.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, noted that the opening of the Ashaiman branch forms part of the bank’s broader strategy to expand its footprint and bring banking services closer to underserved communities.
“This new branch is a symbol of growth, commitment, and community upliftment. It reflects our vision of delivering accessible, innovative, and customer-focused banking at the heart of where our people live and work,” Mr. Asante stated.
He described Ashaiman as a thriving economic hub, rich with entrepreneurial activity across diverse industries, adding that the bank is committed to supporting the town’s economic development.
“FirstBank is here not just to do business, but to partner in the development of Ashaiman. We aim to support the dreams and aspirations of its people,” he said.
He emphasised the bank’s mission to provide inclusive financial services that empower lives and businesses, stressing that everyone — from market traders and artisans to students and entrepreneurs — deserves access to world-class financial solutions tailored to their unique needs.
“We are bringing banking closer to the people with digital innovation, tailored solutions, and a human touch,” he added.
Mr.Asante also highlighted the bank’s focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which he said are central to its growth agenda. He assured that the Ashaiman branch is equipped with a dedicated team ready to offer personalised services to local businesses.
The bank, which was recently recognised as Africa’s leading CSR Bank, is also seeking to collaborate with traditional and civic leaders in the area to pursue shared development goals.
Welcoming the bank, the Regent of the Ashaiman Traditional Area, Nii Anang Adzor, expressed excitement at its presence and called for support for market women, individuals, and small businesses in the form of soft loans to help grow their ventures.
“There is always a first, and there is always a beginning. Whether you are the first or the last to arrive, you are welcome,” he remarked.
