A swift operation by the Western Central Regional Police Command has led to the arrest of five suspects in connection with an armed robbery at a mining site in Dompim, located in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
The suspects are alleged to have launched a violent attack on the site, during which gunshots were fired and workers were robbed of gold concentrate.
During the raid, one of the suspects, Akwasi Abban, was apprehended by workers at the scene. His arrest proved crucial to the ongoing investigation.
Upon interrogation, Abban confessed to participating in the robbery and named the site’s foreman, Ebenezer Soore, as the individual who allegedly leaked operational details to the gang. Soore was arrested shortly thereafter.
Further police intelligence led to the arrest of three additional suspects on 2 June 2025. They have been identified as Elijah Arthur, alias ‘Possible’, Elisha Arthur, alias ‘Skonzy’, and David Agyarko, alias ‘Big Man’.
According to a police statement, all five suspects have been arraigned before court and remanded into prison custody while investigations continue.
The incident highlights persistent security concerns surrounding mining operations in the region.
