The Jackson Institute of Technology (JIT), the official partner of NIIT India in Ghana, hosted students from the Pilot Training Institute, NVTI, on Thursday, June 12 2025, at the auditorium of its Accra Ring Road campus for an impactful Technology Discovery Session.

The event, held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., aimed at inspiring the students to explore opportunities in the ever-growing world of technology while introducing them to the possibilities that ICT training offers for their future.

The session was part of JIT’s community engagement efforts to promote digital literacy and capacity building among Ghana’s youth. The visit began with a warm welcome from the dedicated staff of JIT, whose friendliness and genuine commitment made the students feel comfortable and eager to take part in the day’s activities.

The General Manager, Mrs Joana Abbiw, in her opening remarks, highlighted the importance of technology in today’s world and encouraged the students to take advantage of such opportunities. She noted, “At JIT, we strongly believe that the future belongs to young people who embrace technology today. Our goal is to guide you on that first step, and provide you with skills that open doors to opportunities globally.”

Throughout the program, the students displayed enthusiasm, curiosity, and brilliance. They participated actively in all segments of the day, including a career talk on Tech Pathways After School, which provided insights into how technology skills can serve as a springboard to successful careers in Ghana and beyond.

One of the high points of the day was a fun and educational technology quiz, where the students demonstrated impressive knowledge and quick thinking. The guided tour of JIT’s state-of-the-art ICT training facilities also left the students excited about the possibilities of hands-on learning.

Adding great value to the event were two distinguished resource persons from the Directorate of IT of the Ghana Armed Forces — Warrant Officer Class 1 Tengey, the Admin Warrant Officer for all ICT-related courses run in collaboration with the DIT, and Sergeant Quarshie, a committed instructor with the DIT. Both officers shared real-world perspectives on the importance of technology in modern careers, especially within disciplined and structured environments such as the military.

The session concluded with networking opportunities, giving students a chance to engage informally with trainers and resource persons, ask questions, and gain further inspiration.

A major highlight of the day was the announcement of JIT’s maiden annual promotion for JHS and SHS graduates, themed #LetsdoIT. The initiative encourages young graduates to take advantage of their transition period to acquire practical IT skills that will benefit them in their academic and professional futures.

The success of the program was a testament to the power of partnerships in building capacity and inspiring the next generation. JIT looks forward to further collaborations with educational and technical institutions in shaping the future of technology education in Ghana.
