Gomoa East MCE appeals to nurses to end strike

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Gomoa East Metropolitan Assembly, Madam Margaret Naan Ackom has made a passionate appeal to the striking Nurses of the country to end their industrial action on humanitarian grounds and to prevent the death of innocent citizens.

She said nurses play an extremely critical role in the building of any nation including Ghana as the health of the people remain the most essential aspect of national development which must not be sacrificed for any reason.

The Gomoa East Mayor made the appeal during her tour of some Basic Schools in the Metropolis to encourage and inspire candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examinations and expressed the hope that the striking Nurses will understand the stance of the Government which is barely six months in office for an amicable solution for the good f the country.

Ms. Naana Ackom urged the candidates to be confident and focused as they write their very first major examination with far reaching consequences for their lives, urging them not to panic under any circumstances.

She commended the headmasters and teachers of the schools for teaching and preparing the candidates for the examination as well as and moulding them for the future, describing the Teaching profession as one of the ‘most important for society without whom there would be no entity called a nation’.

 The tour which began on Monday June 9, took her to Gomoa Potsin D/A, Dominase D/A, Buduatta D/A, Akotsi, Akramang, Nkwantanan, Kojo Oku. She was accompanied on the tour by Mr. Frederick Clifford Wirrom from the Gomoa East Metropolitan Assembly.
