This year’s 19th Ghana-Africa Business Awards Ceremony being organised by Top Brass Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has been scheduled to take place at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel on Friday 30th May 2025.
Within the context of intra-African economic co-operation, the erstwhile Ministry of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD in 2004 mandated Top Brass Ghana to organise an annual Ghana-Africa Business Awards Scheme as part of the celebration in Ghana of Africa Day which falls on 25th May.
Since the merger of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, the Ghana-Africa Business Awards Scheme has been organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
According to Isaac Dakwa, Director of Top Brass Ghana, the establishment of the Awards Scheme under the theme: “Accelerating Ghana’s Economic Development Through Increased Intra-African Trade and Investment”, was informed by the realisation, as captured in the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Initiative, that Africa can accelerate its own development through increased economic exchanges among African countries themselves.
The primary objective of the Ghana-Africa Business Awards Scheme is to facilitate Ghana’s economic recovery through maximising the enormous benefits accruing from an expansion in Ghana’s trade and investment relations with the rest of Africa.
The Awards Scheme therefore seeks to honour enterprises which make noteworthy contributions to Ghana’s development through the promotion of trade, investment and other economic relations between Ghana and sister African countries.
Mr. Dakwa observed that with the recent creation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) whose headquarters Secretariat is located in Accra, the Ghana-Africa Business Awards Scheme assumes a special significance and relevance.
By convention, the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration serves as the Guest of Honour while the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs presides over the Awards Ceremony which is graced by the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps.
