….commits to annual support for youth development

FirstBank Ghana has donated GH₵ 50,000 to support the Ga Mantse’s Education Trust Fund during a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Ga State, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at his palace in Accra.

The gesture aims to help provide educational opportunities for underprivileged children in the Ga communities.

In addition to the cash donation, the bank presented boxes of bottled water, assorted drinks, and Kaiser Imperial schnapps as part of traditional customs when visiting a chief’s palace.

The delegation was led by FirstBank’s Managing Director (MD), Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, who described the visit as respectful and purposeful.

“Our main reason for coming is to announce our support for the Ga Mantse’s education fund. We are committing GH₵ 50,000 this year and plan to make this an annual contribution. This is not a one-time gesture,” the MD said in an interview with the Business and Financial Times (B&FT).

He noted that the Paramount Chief has been active in supporting education, especially for needy children, and that FirstBank wanted to partner with him to extend that support.

“The Ga Mantse has been seen to do a lot in supporting education, especially for the needy. So, we thought it would be ideal to come and support the fund he has set up,” Mr. Asante explained.

Additionally, he said the bank supports other social causes in the Ga State, including the Homowo Festival, which celebrates Ga culture and traditions.

“We do a lot of social support, sometimes directly and sometimes through organisations or traditional institutions. This partnership with the Ga Mantse is one of many, and we intend to continue,” he elaborated.

The Paramount Chief’s spokesperson, receiving the donation on behalf of the Ga State- expressed appreciation to the bank and sought God’s blessings for its continued growth and impact. He praised the timely gesture, highlighting its importance for education within the community.

This donation underscores a growing partnership between corporate Ghana and traditional authorities aimed at fostering development through education, health, and cultural preservation.
