Whether you’re rushing to beat Accra traffic for that early morning meeting, heading for lectures, grabbing a late-night kelewele craving, or heading home from a night out with the squad, Bolt has become a trusted go-to for moving around town.

But while getting from A to B quickly is great, knowing you’re protected every step of the way is even better.

That’s why Bolt has rolled out powerful in-app safety features that give you more control and peace of mind—right from your phone. From emergency alerts to ride-sharing tools, here’s how you can make your next Bolt ride even safer.

Emergency Assist – If something doesn’t feel right during a trip, Bolt’s Emergency Assist feature provides riders with a quick way to raise an alert.

A single tap in the app triggers a welfare check from the company’s safety team, who can assess the situation and take further action if needed. The feature is intended to offer riders a discreet response mechanism without needing to leave the app or place a call themselves.

Let Someone Track Your Ride in Real Time –  For those travelling alone, late at night, or in unfamiliar areas, the ability to share trip details with a friend or family member can offer a layer of comfort.

Bolt’s Share Location tool allows riders to send a live tracking link, including car and driver details, to a trusted contact who can follow the trip in real time.

Record Audio – A Way to Document Concerns Mid-Ride  If a rider feels uneasy during a trip but doesn’t want to raise an immediate alarm, the app includes an option to start recording audio.

This recording can later be submitted to customer support if the rider chooses to report the experience. According to the platform, these recordings are stored securely and only accessed in the event of a formal complaint.

Even if you never need to use them, knowing these features exist can make a big difference in how confident and secure you feel on the road. So before you hop into your next Bolt, take a moment to explore these tools—they’re designed with your safety in mind.
