As part of efforts to mitigate climate change and sustain a green environment, a team from ASA and students of Odomaseman SHS in the Bono region collaborated to plant 300seedlings in the school.

The project was initiated by the company in 2023 to annually plant trees and educate particularly students on the importance of trees and the need to preserve the environment.

The seedlings planted were mango, orange, coconut, avocado, and guava.

The Area Manager of ASA at Sunyani, Mr Isaac Agyapong who led the team from ASA showed appreciation to the school’s management and students involved in the tree planting exercise.

Mr Agyapong stressed that, tree planting helps restore the depletion of vegetative cover, absorb CO2 to ensure fresh air, create resilient space for human and animal habitation, and most importantly combat climate change.

“These seedlings when they grow will serve as food and help with the reduction of carbon emissions,” Mr Agyapong added.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Daniel Noah Adobasom expressed gratitude to ASA and disclosed that this exercise will go a long way to help reduce deforestation and eventually help in the fight against global warming and climate change.

“We assure you that we will nurture the seedlings and make sure they grow to serve their intended purpose”, he added.
