Rotary International District 9104 has held its second Annual District Conference (DISCON 25) in Takoradi on the theme ‘The Magic of Rotary’.

The two-day conference was attended by over 1,000 Rotarians within Ghana and beyond. The District Governor, Florence Maame Hagan, at the conference opening reflected on the year under review and celebrated the district’s collective achievements, challenging members to sustain the momentum.

“We have spent the last year emphasising our theme, ‘The Magic of Rotary’, through our various projects and campaigns,” she pointed out.

She was quick to remind Rotarians that magic does not happen on its own. “There’s no magic without our efforts. It is in what we do and the lives we touch and the change we create that real transformation happens.”

She continued: “The Magic is in the impact we make and that should be our continuous call to action”.

The District Governor said significant growth has been achieved and the Clubs have remained committed to their vision of impacting lives across the country.

She was impressed with the increase in membership, saying: “This is an achievement of our  club extension goal and hope this will continue.

“This cycle of care and compassion will never cease to exist. That is what makes us individual and thereby our collective lives worthwhile,” she said.

The District Governor called for resilience and enduring commitment. “Let us remain steadfast in giving our time, resources and hearts to building a better world.

“It has been an honour to serve as District Governor and have the opportunity to advance our efforts toward the greater good,” she said.

The Conference Chair, past District Governor Victor Yaw Asante, explained that Rotary is about making positive impact.

“We have made positive impact through projects and addressing the critical needs of society,” he said.

He added that: “We have achieved magic through working together in areas such as health, clean water, sanitation among others for the communities”.

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, praised the Rotary Club for their commitment, show of love and service to humanity.

“Service above self and promoting integrity is what Africans need to make progress,” he added.

The conference had a colourful masquerade parade and the lively Orekodo beach jam, which was wrapped-up with a signature event – the District Governor’s Gala and Awards night.

There was a Networking and Business Fair that provided a platform for Rotarians to connect, collaborate and support local businesses. Music lovers were treated with performances by the renowned Black Lace Band and legendary Gyedu-Blay Ambolley as guest artist.
