African World Airlines (AWA) extends its support to education by donating GH¢100,000 to the schools endowment fund.

Speaking at the event, his Royal Highness Togbe Afede who is the Board Chairman of AWA as well as an old student of Labone Senior High School admonished students to be hard working to make Ghana proud.

“This school has served the nation very well; it has produced business men, politicians, lawyers, engineers, doctors, economists, accountants and many more. When I walked in here and saw some of the facilities that has deteriorated, certainly I am not too pleased”, he said.

“I know the leaders of this school are doing their very best and we are also aware of the latest fire disaster that has displaced most of our girls’. He added.

“I will also like to thank government for committing to rebuilding what we have lost, but we cannot leave it all to government alone”. I am extremely privilege to enter this school in 1974; I came to Labone to complete my A level which enabled me to enter School of Administration in the University”. He said.

“I have been supportive of the school over the years, in December when we had the fund raiser, I donated 100,000 cedis to the school, but I know the school needs and deserves a lot more than that, that is why I am here with African World Airlines, a company that I founded thanks to the education I received from Labone Secondary School” he noted.

In African World Airlines, we take our corporate social responsibility serious and we are here again to show our commitment to education.

“On a personal level, I have benefitted so much from this school and I have always desired to support the school, and the teachers, so they can give you what I was given during the years when I was here, ’´ he said.

“This school thought me to be ambitious, and also thought me ambition in its self means nothing and you have to work hard towards achieving your goals.

He further told students to always spare a bit of their sleep, and went on to tell them poverty is always manufactured in bed and you cannot be sleeping as if you are competing with the dead and expect to make it in the world of the living. He told students you could only be lucky when you are working hard.

The astute Board Chairman went further and told students to plan well, because that will get you in order and help you achieve your goals. He asked students to always be selfless and honest and this can end corruption in our society if we are all honest.

He encouraged students to be humble and make humility their core value because this will bring them love from their peers and help them to develop.

He concluded by telling students to always be modest to enable them to save for the future, and to have a sense of gratitude.

The headmistress of Labone Senior High School, Madam Rejoice Acorlor thanked the board chair and Africa World Airlines for this amazing gesture and admonished them to do more in future since the school will always need additional infrastructure going forward.

She also thanked the Alumni (LOSA) for their efforts in terms donations and helping the school to build its needed infrastructure.
