Poetry Corner: The Plot Thickened

Hellooo

My name is Emmanuel

I am calling after a long spell of silence

After a long break of the past

After the days we used to be pals

Do you recall this voice?

I hope you do…so well

I did not recognize that voice called Emmanuel…not so well

I did not recall giving my number out

But he, Emmanuel

He insisted he knew me…so well

I am calling to say how rich I have become

I am calling to explain to you how I became rich overnight

The things I did right

I am the C. E. O. of E Group of Companies

I own a chain of businesses

I own a lot of properties

Many are those who benefit from my benevolence

Many I have lifted from grass to grace

Many, whose stories I have changed

Why not you, my dear friend?

What are friends for?

What I have I share

When I care I share

A fair share of my millions I spare

This is my private number

You can call me

Or you can come over

In the meantime contact Osei

This is his hot line

He is my business pal

Trusted

Don’t ask too many questions

Trust him

Do as he tells you

Trust him

You buy hundred boxes of the product

You make hundred percent profit

It’s a fifty-fifty deal

A real deal

You win

I win

We win

But be warned, my friend

Don’t let him know our deal

Our little secret

Our Trump card

Our little secret

Our success pack

Up I hanged

I had more questions than answers

Must I call Osei?

Does he know Emmanuel?

Does he know him so well?

Must I dial his hotline?

What would he tell me?

A little patience

A little consultation

And a jury’s verdict:

A deal, too good to be true

A deal, so crafted to dupe

So don’t call Osei

We know what he’d say

He’d say, be quick and don’t delay

He’d say it’s an opportunity you must not miss

You delay at your own loss

He’d tell you to hurry up

Pay through mobile money

To make more money

At little cost

A jury recommended a command:

Block this blockhead of a scammer

Forever

Block him with a sledgehammer

So I did

A word for the wise to listen

I blocked Emmanuel’s line

So well

For so long

But I know

I know Osei would be waiting

Waiting eagerly for a call on his hotline

But never

Never could they have their way

Emmanuel and Osei

I worked my way

Out of harm’s way
