Bridget Mensah, Head of Marketing, Communication, PR and Events at Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), has won the prestigious Purple Award at the 2024 Ladies in Media Awards (LIMA).
The Purple Award is the night’s highest honour, recognising exceptional women leaders in African media.
Dr. Timothy Karikari, Director of Broadcasting at GMA, called the recognition “well-deserved” and highlighted Bridget’s strategic vision and leadership.
In her acceptance, Bridget expressed gratitude and said the award inspires her to “continue pushing boundaries and creating meaningful content”.
The Purple Award recognises Bridget’s outstanding contributions alongside fellow nominees Apeffie Nfojoh from Ghana and Nyaradzo Makombe from Zimbabwe, celebrating women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in the media sector across the African continent.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition and grateful to Ladies in Media for highlighting the important work women are doing in media across Africa,” Bridget stated. “This award inspires me to continue pushing boundaries and creating meaningful content that represents our diverse voices.”
Bridget oversees PR, Events and Marketing for YFM (Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi) and Happy 98.9FM. Her achievements include spearheading thought leadership campaigns, securing media partnerships, leading high-profile events and producing documentaries on social issues. She was also part of the team that worked on BBC’s “World in 2 Minutes” coming on the Y Triangle.
The 3rd edition of the Ladies in Media Awards was held under the theme ‘The Power of Representation’, with nominees from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa and other African nations. The ceremony honoured women across 16 categories, celebrating excellence and female leadership in the media industry.
The ceremony, hosted by Jay Foley and Michellin Tucker, featured performances by Dollah Boi and Zawadi Yamungu while recognising outstanding women who have made significant contributions to the media industry across Africa.
LIMA is designed to celebrate and honour women in media, build excellence and create platforms for young, talented women to hone their skills through mentoring and coaching.
