The highly anticipated West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exhibition is set to return to Accra for its fourth edition from May 6–8, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Organised by Astrovision Global FZCO Dubai and ACE Group under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the event continues to position itself as the premier international exhibition for the pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare industry in Ghana and the sub-region.

With support from over a dozen industry stakeholders including the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy (GNCP), Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association of Ghana (PIWA), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the Association of Health Service Administrators of Ghana (AHSAG), this year’s edition is set to be even more impactful.

According to Mr. Praveen Singh, Project Director of the exhibition, the 2025 edition will host approximately 100 exhibitors from countries including India, Turkey, the United States, Egypt, Italy, and Ghana.

Over 5,000 visitors from Ghana and the West African sub-region are expected to attend.

“This event is a unique opportunity for local and regional businesses to connect with global solution providers, explore innovations, and engage in meaningful partnerships,” Mr. Singh noted.

This year’s theme, “E-Pharmacy & Digital Health,” reflects the growing interest in leveraging technology to improve healthcare delivery across West Africa.

The three-day event will feature concurrent conferences and seminars addressing digital transformation, regulatory frameworks, and innovations in healthcare. These discussions aim to chart a progressive path forward for the region’s healthcare sector.

Pharm. Audrey Serwaa Bonsu, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy, underscored the importance of the event as a platform for sharing commitments, fostering partnerships, and improving supply chain efficiencies.

“As a Chamber, we are committed to advocating policies that support sector growth, regulatory compliance, and strong public-private partnerships,” she stated.

“We believe that this exhibition offers a perfect opportunity to exchange skills, transfer knowledge, and build alliances that will transform Ghana’s pharmaceutical industry,” she added.

The exhibition is not only a business platform but also a catalyst for youth involvement and development.

From the perspective of PIWA Ghana, which contributes around 70% of Ghana’s pharmaceutical imports, the shift towards local manufacturing is a welcome one.

Executive Secretary, Mr. Joe FiFi Yamoah Jr. emphasised the association’s readiness to seize new opportunities.

“Past editions of the exhibition have enabled our members to build valuable contacts and sign business agreements. This year, we hope to form partnerships that will lead to setting up manufacturing plants in Ghana,” he noted.

Addressing concerns about unregulated drugs, Mr. Yamoah assured that Ghana’s pharmaceutical environment is one of the most regulated in Africa.

“Our members are required to comply fully with FDA and Pharmacy Council regulations. Only vetted and registered entities are accepted as members,” he explained.

Mr. Solomon Agyemang on the other hand highlighted that “This event provides the youth with a platform to connect with companies, gain knowledge, and prepare for future leadership roles in the sector,” he said.

The 2025 edition of the West Africa Pharma Healthcare Exhibition promises not just to be a gathering of stakeholders, but a springboard for transformation—focusing on digital health, local production, and sustainable partnerships that will shape the future of healthcare in Ghana and West Africa.
