President Mahama to headline AETC 2025 in Accra

Africa stands at the cusp of a transformative energy revolution, with all eyes on Accra, Ghana, as it prepares to host the Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC) 2025.

President John Dramani Mahama has officially confirmed his participation in this landmark event, scheduled to take place from 27th to 29th May.

AETC 2025 will bring together global energy leaders to ignite discussions, forge game-changing partnerships, and reshape Africa’s energy future—solidifying Ghana’s role as a hub of innovation and investment.

President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to advancing energy technology, fostering sustainable development, and attracting transformative investments.

His leadership and dedication to strengthening energy security and expanding renewable infrastructure will drive discussions on policy reforms, strategic investment, and enhanced regional collaboration.

Under the theme “Innovate, invest, implement: revolutionised financing for sustainable energy growth in Africa,” AETC 2025 will serve as a platform for exploring disruptive technologies, unlocking innovative financing models, and implementing strategic policies to accelerate Africa’s journey towards energy independence. More than just a conference, it represents a movement to position Africa as a global energy powerhouse.

President Mahama will be joined by a distinguished line-up of dignitaries, including John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Ghana; Sangafowa Coulibaly, Minister for Mines, Petroleum and Energy, Côte d’Ivoire; Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Nigeria; Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mining, Senegal; and Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO).

Other key attendees include Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); Ashish Khanna, Director-General of the International Solar Alliance; Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, Chairman of the Central African Pipeline System (CAPS) Strategic Partnerships and Funding Committee; Mohamed Hamel, Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum; NJ Ayuk, Chairman of the Africa Energy Chamber; Elizabeth Rogo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TSAVO Oilfield Services; and Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Co-Chair of UN-Energy.

The event will also welcome representatives from leading institutions, including the African Development Bank (AfDB), African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Clean Cooking Alliance, as well as major national and international oil companies.
