GRA donates to Chief Imam towards Ramadan

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has donated assorted items to the National Chief Imam, Sheik Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, towards this year’s Ramadan celebration.

The items comprise 100 bags of rice, cartons of oil, tomato paste and packs of bottled water and carbonated drinks.

Presenting the items, immediate past Commissioner of Customs Division, Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo, said the GRA and the Office of the Chief Imam, has been collaborating on many projects including tax education campaigns among others.

He said it was for such reason that the Authority has been supporting the National Chief Imam on occasions such as Ramadan.

“The Chief Imam has been tremendous in assisting the Authority in tax education campaigns and encouraging the citizenry to honour their obligations on tax payment. He supported us on many of such initiatives last year and he continuously pray for us in what we do” Brigadier General Ayorrogo said.

The items the Authority has donated is a token to support the Chief Imam and the muslim community of the GRA’s support in this holy month and to encourage all muslims to strive towards holiness in this month of Ramadan.

Commissioner, Support Services Division of the GRA, Dr Alex Adomako Mensah reiterated the Authority’s support at all times for the Office of the Chief Imam.

He said the month of Ramadan is a special month to show love for the needy whilst seeking the face of God.

“As partners, the Chief Imam has been very helpful in our tax education drives and as such it is only proper that the Authority brings its widow’s mite to show appreciation in this holy month’ he said.

The National Chief Imam, Sheik Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, commended the delegation from the GRA and thanked them for the gesture.

“It is a good thing to see my children from the GRA coming to visit and bringing gifts to observe this holy month with us. I pray for Allah’s blessing on their endeavors as the Authority strives to meet its tax target for this year” He said.
