Mentorship and networking are powerful tools for both business and personal growth, the Founder and Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Akosa, has said.

She made this statement at the just-ended 2025 Women in Business (WIB) Dialogue series, themed ‘Creating an inclusive economy: scaling jobs for women through agribusiness and technology’.

“I think through today’s session, the Business and Financial Times has demonstrated that mentorship is a strong tool to scale up, to redefine hope, to re-energise people, to bring out their passion – and that has clearly been demonstrated here,” she stated.

The event brought together women from various sectors including agribusiness, fashion and trading, providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Ms Akosa commended B&FT for fostering cross-sector networking, noting that such interactions enable women to reposition themselves and advance their businesses.

“I think mentorship is a must and I applaud B&FT for not focusing on just one sector, but bringing together diverse women from different fields. You could see the traders, market women, women in agribusiness and those in fashion all represented,” she said.

“Women are operating in different sectors and, for me, it’s a powerful move by B&FT. The energy in the room – over 300 women, all energised to pick up things they had left off and push boundaries – was palpable. B&FT has practically demonstrated that mentorship is a strong tool to re-energise women and more broadly inspire us to redefine our hopes and visions,” she added.

She also highlighted the significant impact of networking at the event, emphasising its role in mentorship and strategic repositioning. She noted that the exchange of information empowers individuals to grow and adapt.

“I think the event’s style and format were excellent. It opened up the space for networking and for any industry to grow; networking is one of the most powerful tools we can embrace. There was an exchange of knowledge and contacts – and the beauty of it is that the event does not end here. The networking continues, allowing participants to share knowledge and improve upon themselves long after the event,” she asserted.

Ms. Akosa concluded that networking and mentorship not only highlight past achievements but also create opportunities for future growth and collaboration.
