The Adisadel College Millennium (2000) Year Group has reinforced its legacy of service and philanthropy through a series of impactful projects aimed at improving education and healthcare in Cape Coast.
In addition to unveiling a multi-million-cedi refurbishment of the Job 600 building, the group has made significant donations to the Adisadel Urban Health Centre and St. Nicholas Anglican Primary School, demonstrating their commitment to community development.
A landmark project for Adisadel College
On Saturday, March 8, during the school’s 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day, the Millennium Year Group officially handed over the newly renovated Job 600 building. The project, which cost over GH¢4million, was financed through internal contributions (GH¢4,742,582.48), external donations (GH¢500,000) and sponsorships (GH¢757,417.52).
Speaking at the event, Richard Nii Amu Arthur, President of the Millennium Year Group, emphasised the group’s determination to make a lasting impact. “Rather than constructing a new structure, we identified an essential yet deteriorating facility on campus—the Job 600 (Science Building).
Through extensive consultations, we resolved to revamp this multi-purpose building to align with global academic standards, ensuring that Adisadel College remains at the forefront of excellence.”
The state-of-the-art facility now includes an amphitheatre, an Emerging Technology Lab, a National Science & Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) Room, a Media Centre, upgraded classrooms, and modern staff offices, among other enhancements.
Boosting healthcare services in Cape Coast
Beyond the school, the Millennium Year Group extended its philanthropic efforts to the Adisadel Urban Health Centre by donating essential medical equipment to improve healthcare delivery.
The donation included hospital beds, bedside locker, drip stand, Trolley, Drawer cabinet, Suction machine, Tabletop ultrasound machine, Pulse oximeter, digital sphygmomanometer, infrared thermometer, digital thermometer and clinical thermometers.
The donation is expected to significantly enhance medical care for the local community, reinforcing the group’s commitment to societal well-being.
Supporting education at St. Nicholas Anglican Primary School
In line with their dedication to education, the Millennium Year Group also donated learning materials and essential supplies to St. Nicholas Anglican Primary School.
The items included cement for infrastructure development, bottled water for students, reading books and pens to support literacy efforts. These contributions aim to provide young learners with the necessary tools to succeed in their studies.
STEAM education in focus
The 115th Speech and Prize-Giving Day was themed ‘The Role of STEAM Education for National Development in the 21st Century’. The keynote speaker, Dr. Ave Kludze Klutse, a NASA scientist and Adisadel alumnus from the Class of ’83, encouraged students to explore STEAM subjects and proposed the establishment of an ‘Emerging Technologies’ club at Adisadel College. He pledged his support as the founding patron of the initiative.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Otwasuom Osae Nyampong VI – Patron of the Millennium Year Group, and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, who represented President John Dramani Mahama.
A legacy of giving back
As they mark their 25th anniversary since graduating, the Adisadel College Millennium Year Group continues to set an example of alumni engagement and social responsibility.
Their efforts in education, healthcare and community development highlight the power of collective action and a commitment to national progress. With a legacy deeply rooted in giving back, the Millennium Year Group’s contributions stand as an inspiration to future generations of Santaclausians and the wider community.
