Bernard Ohemeng-Baah appointed as acting deputy commissioner of NIC

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Bernard Ohemeng-Baah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of the National Insurance Commission (NIC).

In this role, he will support the Acting Commissioner to ensure effective regulation, supervision, and growth of Ghana’s insurance industry.

Mr. Ohemeng-Baah is a Chartered Insurer with over 20 years of experience in industry and academia.



He holds a Master of Laws in Insurance Law from Queen Mary University of London, a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance, and a Bachelors in Business Administration with a major in Insurance, from the University of Ghana.

He brings deep knowledge of the Ghana insurance industry as well as exposure to best practices and emerging trends in insurance regulation from the leading markets of the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Mr. Ohemeng-Baah has experience leading multi-country software projects, raising venture capital, and is keenly interested in the revolutionary role of artificial intelligence in insurance.

He joins Dr. Abiba Zakariah, the Acting Commissioner of Insurance who is a proven leader with 30 years of industry experience to usher the National Insurance Commission into the next growth frontier.
