The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) has sworn in its recently re-elected executive members with the new president of the institute – Solomon Amah-Kai Lartey, demanding that insurance professionals be included in the impending national economic dialogue since every economic activity involves some level of risk and insurance professionals are trained risk managers, thus making their expertize crucial in shaping economic policies and strategies.
“It is imperative that insurance professionals are part of economic dialogues” asserted Lartey at his investiture as the newly re-elected CIIG President for a second term in office. “We provide the technical expertise needed to assess, predict and mitigate risks effectively, ensuring sustainable economic growth and stability.”
The investiture of the CIIG President and the other recently re- elected National Executive Members took place on February 13 during the 2025 Investiture and President’s Cocktail at the National Insurance Commission’s head office in Accra.
The prestigious event brought together key stakeholders and industry leaders, reinforcing CIIG’s commitment to professionalism, innovation and excellence within Ghana’s insurance sector. The event therefore provided an invaluable platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and reinforcing CIIG’s mission to drive growth and professionalism in the insurance industry.
Apart from Lartey as the Institute’s President other executives re-elected for a second term in office were: Mrs Yvonne Osei-Addo as Vice President; Joel Lartey as General Secretary; Mrs Bernice Davies as Assistant General Secretary; Jason Amo Gyimah as Treasurer; and Lawrence Daniels as Public Relations Officer.
The newly re-elected executives pledged to work diligently to enhance industry standards, foster innovation and expand public awareness of the significance of insurance in Ghana’s economic development.
The Investiture also witnessed the swearing in of representatives from key industry bodies as CIIG Council Members, to further strengthen collaboration within the sector.
The inducted representatives included: Shaibu Ali, President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG); Nashiru Iddrisu, 1st Vice President of tHe Ghana’s Insurers Association (GIA); Dr Dan Vincent Armoah, representative of the Private Health Insurers Association of Ghana (PHIAG); Richard Okyere, Director of the Ghana Insurance College; George Quayson Otoo, representative of NIC; Joseph Ampofo, representative of Chamber of Corporate Trustees; and Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, ex-officio member.
