Star Ghana Foundation and its partners have expressed optimism that their proposals will be factored into government policies at the upcoming National Education Forum.

Speaking ahead of the event, Raymond Danso, Manager-Rights to Social Services Portfolio, Star Ghana Foundation, noted that many of their past recommendations were incorporated into political party manifestos before the elections, strengthening their confidence in the forum’s impact.

Addressing participants at the CSOs’ Education Forum, a preparatory session ahead of the national event, Mr. Danso described it as a crucial platform for coordinating and amplifying key concerns in education. He emphasised that the proposals to be presented – covering areas such as finance, infrastructure and teacher deployment – will form a strong foundation for new government policies in the sector.

While commending government’s initiative, he urged authorities to ensure that discussions translate into actionable reforms rather than remain unimplemented ideas. “We hope this forum does not become one of those platforms where great ideas are presented but never acted upon. We are hopeful something pragmatic will come out of it this time,” he stated.

The National Education Forum, themed ‘Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future’, begins on February 18, 2025 at Ho, Volta Region, and will conclude with a validation conference in Accra on February 27-28.

As part of their advocacy, CSOs plan to introduce a tracking tool to monitor government commitments in the education sector. Mr. Danso stressed the importance of collective action in holding authorities accountable, describing it as the most effective way to drive meaningful change.
